Tamarin beach is situated at the estuary of the Tamarin River. It caters less for visitors than the Mauritius beaches of the North. This, however, does not detract from its natural beauty. Here you will find plenty of coconut palms and clear water.
What makes Tamarin special are the waves that rush in from a break in the coral reef and it is the spot for boogie boarders and surfers in Mauritius.
Salt flats surround that bay and there is a large salt-processing industry in this area. It is also close to a small fishing village and fresh fish is readily on hand. Inland are the best of Mauritius nature reserves and national parks where you can experience beauty of a different kind.
