Black River Aviary

This aviary has been established by the government with the purpose of preventing the extinction of the rare Mauritian birdlife. Here there is a captive breeding programme to increase the numbers of these wild birds which are then released into the reserves in Mauritius. Birds include the Mauritius kestrel, the pink pigeon and the echo parakeet.

Casela Nature and Leisure Park

This park is a place to enjoy the wonders of the animal kingdom. The 85 aviaries house about 2,500 birds of around 140 species. Beyond the birdlife, visit the tigers, tortoises and moneys. Wonder around 44ha of park, relax at the restaurant and watch the giant goldfish swimming in the ponds. Kids will enjoy the petting farm and for some fun the family can go quad biking.

Yemen Nature Escapade

This offers an African-type safari adventure. Drive the bush lands and spot the zebra, deer, stags and ostrich. Enjoy beautiful views of the mountains and coastline from the lookout point.

Safari Adventures

This is an experience of note. Have a pride of lions roam amongst you - completely free to do as they will. Watch their behaviour and the interaction of the pride.

Valriche

Here you will find many places to explore from ruins of an old sugar mill, an impressive water fall, cool tropical forest and open plains where stags graze. Enjoy a special lunch at the restaurant in an old stone mansion.

Martello Tower

The coast of Mauritius houses three of the best examples of Martello Towers in the world. These towers were built in various countries in order to defend the coasts of the British Empire. In 1993 the tower at La Preneuse in Rivière Noire, Mauritius, was restored.
